Senate about to vote on DADT, thanks to Scott Brown and other RINOS it’s about to pass the 60 vote threshhold. After that it’s the so-called Dream Act Giveaway which is a Trojan Horse designed to lead to Amnesty for millions of illegal aliens.
“Congress is close to ending the ban on gays serving openly in the U.S. military, with the Senate ready for a landmark vote that could deliver a major victory to the gay community, liberals and President Barack Obama.
Senators planned a procedural vote Saturday on a bill ending the Pentagon’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy as lawmakers held an unusual weekend session in their race to finish the year’s legislative business.
If at least 60 senators vote to advance the bill as expected, the repeal, which passed the House of Representatives earlier this week, could win final passage by late afternoon. Republicans opposed to changing the law could demand extended debate although early indications were that they might not bother.
With opposition from Republicans weakening, passage would mark a triumph for Obama, who made repeal of the 17-year-old law a campaign promise in 2008. It also would be a win for congressional Democrats who have struggled in the final days of the outgoing Congress’ session to overcome Republican objections, and for gay rights groups who said Saturday’s vote was their best shot at changing the law. Republicans, who are far less supportive of gay rights, take over the House and gain strength in the Senate when the new Congress is seated in January.
As I said before, we will place Tea Party challengers to every RINO who voted to have DADT repealed. Same is true for the DA. If you want a fucking war, you’ve got it.
Kudos to Senator McCain, who has learned the lesson that RINOism is dead.
“Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.), speaking on the Senate floor today, said that when repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell passes, which he acknowledged is likely, there will be “high fives across the liberal bastions of America,” where many have never served or known anyone who has served in the armed forces. The will be mistaken, he said. “This is not about the broader social issues that are being discussed in society,” McCain said — it’s about what’s best for the military, and repealing the current policy was the wrong decision. “They will do what is asked of them, but don’t think it won’t be at great cost,” he said.
McCain began his speech by slamming the “bizzaro world” that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) inhabited, and accused Democrats of trying to “jam through” the remaining items — START, the DREAM Act and repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell — on an agenda that was “absolutely repudiated” on November 2. “Everything we’re doing is completely ignoring that message,” McCain said. “Maybe it will require another election.”
It will, and there will be blood. Meanwhile, man the phones on these swing votes for The Dream Act:
Susan Collins 202-224-2523
Lisa Murkowski 202-224-6665
Sam Brownback 202-224-6521
Kay Bailey Hutchinson 202-224-5922
George LeMieux 202-224-3041
Judd Gregg 202-224-3324
Olympia Snowe 202-224-5344
George Voinovich 202-224-3353
Get calling.
UPDATE: Well thanks to a flawed study (more on that later), Senate RINOS have handed Obama a victory and US Military readiness a setback. 63-33. Thanks for nothing RINOS, begin to pack your bags. Usual fucking suspects.
Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Olympia Snowe (Maine), Mark Kirik (Ill.), Scott Brown (Mass.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and retiring Sen. George Voinovich (Ohio).
In Sarah’s words, a target has been placed on you.
One disclaimer. I’m not against gays in the military. Gays have always been in the military, just not legally. But they have served and served well, fought, died and been awarded. I salute them. My problem is with the rush to judgement on repealing DADT. The study touted as showing support was flawed, indeed tampered with. Survey responses which showed opposition to the repeal were summarily dismissed (I have the proof). The fix was in from the beginning with Gates providing the pressure. I will be releasing the proof of this via insiders to the study to the media later this week. One of the facts purposely left out of media coverage is that a full 60 percent of active combat troops opposed the lifting of the ban including the commandant of the Marine Corps.
Meanwhile The Dream Act fails. 55-41. At least some good news. RINOS who voted “Yea”, Murkowski, Lugar and Bob Bennett. Michelle Malkin notes the pressure needs to be there to keep The Dream Act from coming back up again.
