Blogging for Bolton

Via Blogs for Bush:

“With Democrats determined to defeat John Bolton’s nomination to the Ambassador to the U.N., we have to do our part to help assure his confirmation. The folks at Senator Frist’s VOLPAC has created BloggingForBolton.com, “a phone bank designed to flood the offices of Democratic Senators with calls in support of Ambassador Bolton.”

Get working them phones, times are too dangerous to not have Bolton kicking ass at the UN.

Bolton getting it done

The more that Bolton get’s done at the UN, the more his critics look silly in their opposition.

“UNITED NATIONS — The United States and France agreed Saturday on a draft U.N. Security Council resolution that calls for an end to the fighting between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas, but would allow Israel to defend itself if attacked, officials said.

U.S. Ambassador John Bolton and French President Jacques Chirac’s office confirmed that agreement had been reached.

The full 15-nation Security Council was expected to meet later Saturday to discuss the resolution, and it was likely to be adopted in the next couple of days, Bolton said.

An official with knowledge of the document said the draft calls for a “full cessation of violence” between Israel and Hezbollah, but would allow Israel the right to launch strikes if Hezbollah attacks it.

“It does not say immediate cessation of violence,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the draft had not yet been made public.

That appeared to be a major victory for the U.S. and Israel. France and many other nations had demanded an immediate halt to the fighting without conditions as a way to push the region back toward stability.

The French presidential palace in Paris said a deal was reached on a resolution that seeks a total halt to hostilities and would work toward a permanent cease-fire and a long-term solution.

Bolton said the resolution would be the first of two. He said this one deals with the immediate issue of the fighting. The second would likely spell out a larger political framework for peace between Israel and Hezbollah.

“We’re prepared to continue to work tomorrow in order to make progress on the adoption of the resolution but we have reached agreement and we’re now ready to proceed,” Bolton said. “We’re prepared to move as quickly as other members of the council want to move.”

Note the key points. This will not be a “immediate ceasefire”. Israel will continue to hammer Hezbollah into a non-entity, and retains the right to hammer them if they decide they haven’t had enough (not ever likely). Actually, I see this agreement as a kind of “See? Told you!” move by Bolton, that will force the UN to see facts as they are.

Hezbollah isn’t going to stop killing Israelis until they (in their mind) kill the last one. You don’t deal with cockroaches, you kill them. But as you know you can’t just spray around the counters - you have to go into the wall.

Therefore, in a way I see this agreement being “set up” for failure, and it will only be a matter of time before Hezbollah breaks the agreement (they always have) and therefore having no other choice, Israel will proceed with their elimination.

Moreover, we can now see that Democrats who have opposed Bolton don’t have the best interest of the United States in mind, but just to take any opportunity they can to “stick it to Bush”. Just shows how WRONG they are for our National Security.

Alan Dershowitz makes the case for Bolton

Not all liberals are clueless on issues of National Security. Alan Dershowitz in an op-ed in the Washington Times make the case for the appointment of John Bolton and it’s quite good.

“As a liberal Democrat, I listened carefully to the opposition voiced by many Democratic senators to the nomination of John Bolton as our chief representative to the United Nations. Mr. Bolton has been representing us at the United Nations since August. During the current Middle East crisis, I have been able to listen for myself to what Mr. Bolton has been saying at the United Nations.

On the basis of his performance, I have become a Bolton supporter. He speaks with moral clarity. He is extremely well prepared. He is extraordinarily articulate. He places the best face on American policy, particularly in the Middle East during this crucial time.”

Read the rest. Democrats ought to read it too, although they are so blinded by hate for Bush they literally cannot see the forest for the trees.

Democrats I believe are making critical mistakes towards their goals in 2006 and 2008 by consistently criticizing anything that has the “Bush stamp of approval” simply because they - in their own words - running against him (who is not running) in 2006.

I don’t care what polls are saying, people care about National Security, and except for the over-polled moonbats in a Seattle Starbucks, most American’s really don’t give a flip what the world thinks about us. We didn’t get to the United States of America - the most powerful nation ever to have existed - because we have a guilt-based-people-pleasing complex.

Again, John Bolton - as all good Ambassadors of the past - is there to represent OUR interests in the world. He’s not there to please third world thugs and robbers and especially not to please that crook Annan (who’s past the time of shackles).

Bolton is the right man at precisely the right time, and make no mistake, these are perilous times.
