Thoughts on the Debate - Romney wins, McCain’s an ass

Coming off his Florida ‘win’ you think McCain would have knocked them dead in the debate tonight. He didn’t, he blew it. A few reacts:

John Stevenson details McCain’s “semantics” with Romney which looked more like a school yard bully trying to steal money than a presidential candidate trying to make a point.

Capt Ed:

“McCain not only looked old and tired, constantly leaning on his arms and speaking in a monotone, he made a very poor showing in trying to falsely stretch a Romney quote from April into an endorsement of a withdrawal. That’s not only ridiculous, it’s blatantly a smear. As I pointed out earlier, John McCain in January 2007 actually did talk about ending the mission if surge milestones didn’t get met by the Iraqi government, making this a pretty dumb choice for a line in the sand. And even Anderson Cooper had to talk over John McCain to tell him he got it wrong.”

Over all it wasn’t a good performance or anything close to it. By continuing to smear Romney McCain showed just why he doesn’t deserve the support of the base, nor the job of the President of the United States.

In short, he’s an ass.

UPDATE: Here’s the video of the night. It shows when asked the hard questions McCain is really no much more than a lying vindictive ass-clown.

Tonight he reminded me again and again why I don’t like the guy. He has also treated the President with the same arrogance and self-anointed-sainthood. He lead the charge that the Dems followed demonizing the President at every turn (tax for the rich, torture, rights for terrorists, and on and on), and he accuses Mitt of not supporting the surge as a governor………pleeeeeeese!

Last fall I was prepared to support the Repub nominee, EVEN if it was McC. But the more he talks’n’smirks, and stabs Repubs in the back (front, side), the more I truly dislike the guy. He fosters the same intense visceral reaction as the Clintons do. But then again, he is very Clinton-esque.

As it stands, I simply can not vote for him. Even as president, you know he’ll continue to court the MSM and woo the Dems’ admiration. I can’t vote for that!

Y’know, one could easily make the case that the left has been purposely promoting McC because they know he’ll cause many on the right to NOT vote for him.

Kitty, BINGO. You win. You have hit the nail exactly on it’s head. Why would the left leaning MSM be pandering for McCain? Because when push comes to shove and it’s McCain v. Clinton or McCain v. Obama, they will drag out all the old dirt on McCain (Keating 5, partnership with Kerry on American POWs left in Vietnam) and he will be a dead duck and will lose the election to a Democrat.
And the sorry fact of the matter is, the MSM will be right.

McCain is an angry, hateful man. Don’t believe me? Ask John Cornyn who involked McCain’s rath because Cronyn didn’t want to give the immediate Z visa to convicted felons.

Maybe Mac could do a list of McCain’s infamous temper’s greatest hits?

Didn’t watch the debate, didn’t need to.

I already know what an ass looks like and I already know what one sounds like when it’s blowing gas.

As far as the MSM love afair with McCain, it’s about the illegal alien issue. With McCain as the nominee it leaves the dems oipen to bash the economy. McCain doesn’t have the simple comeback “If the economy is so bad why don’t we enforce the immigration laws and send illegals packing so Americans can have the jobs.”
