But not in the way you and I - clear thinking conservatives do. The left hates 9/11 because as bad as that day was and in spite of the fact that there were both liberals and conservatives, muslims and even atheists who died on that day, they hate it because it happened on the watch of a Republican president.

Watching them respond to terrorism and world threats of countries such as Iran since them reminds me of the wannabe prom queen who looks over at the winnner and sneers, “It means nothing”.

Today the Ny Times give columnist Thomas Friedman the opportunity to cement this assessment with a totally idiotic screed that proclaims, “9/11 is Over“.

“Not long ago, the satirical newspaper The Onion ran a fake news story that began like this:

“At a well-attended rally in front of his new ground zero headquarters Monday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani officially announced his plan to run for president of 9/11. ‘My fellow citizens of 9/11, today I will make you a promise,’ said Giuliani during his 18-minute announcement speech in front of a charred and torn American flag. ‘As president of 9/11, I will usher in a bold new 9/11 for all.’ If elected, Giuliani would inherit the duties of current 9/11 President George W. Bush, including making grim facial expressions, seeing the world’s conflicts in terms of good and evil, and carrying a bullhorn at all state functions.”

Like all good satire, the story made me both laugh and cry, because it reflected something so true ‚Äî how much, since 9/11, we‚Äôve become ‚ÄúThe United States of Fighting Terrorism.‚Äù Times columnists are not allowed to endorse candidates, but there‚Äôs no rule against saying who will not get my vote: I will not vote for any candidate running on 9/11. We don‚Äôt need another president of 9/11. We need a president for 9/12. I will only vote for the 9/12 candidate.”

Of course there are several on the ballot, all on the Democrat side for which Freedman can cast his vote with devil-may-care. In fact we had a 9/12 president before George Bush, as we all know Bill Clinton who along with one of the most enept (and in the case of Sandy Burglar, the most dishonest cabinets in recent history lead Osama Bin Laden to the doors of the WTC.

Ask those who lost loved ones, friends on that day “Is 9/11 over”?

Of course Freedman is typical of the left. He epitomizes the “Let’s get back to the Garden, to our bongs and Play Stations and forget that there are people out there who from the age of six think about beheading our children.

9/11 will never be over so long as there is one Islamic extremist in existance. The world changed on 9/11 - forever. There will never be a return to the former. What this means is the left many continual to find themselves increasingly uncomfortable in this country, and at point we need only remind them that after the 2004 election they threaten to move.
