After all, the TT (Traitor Times) has been slaming the war effort, printing our wartime secrets and committing sedition all while hiding under “freedom of the press” for four years. So why is it a surprise that they call for an all-out retreat now?

“It is time for the United States to leave Iraq, without any more delay than the Pentagon needs to organize an orderly exit.

Like many Americans, we have put off that conclusion, waiting for a sign that President Bush was seriously trying to dig the United States out of the disaster he created by invading Iraq without sufficient cause, in the face of global opposition, and without a plan to stabilize the country afterward.

At first, we believed that after destroying Iraq’s government, army, police and economic structures, the United States was obliged to try to accomplish some of the goals Mr. Bush claimed to be pursuing, chiefly building a stable, unified Iraq. When it became clear that the president had neither the vision nor the means to do that, we argued against setting a withdrawal date while there was still some chance to mitigate the chaos that would most likely follow.

While Mr. Bush scorns deadlines, he kept promising breakthroughs ‚Äî after elections, after a constitution, after sending in thousands more troops. But those milestones came and went without any progress toward a stable, democratic Iraq or a path for withdrawal. It is frighteningly clear that Mr. Bush‚Äôs plan is to stay the course as long as he is president and dump the mess on his successor. Whatever his cause was, it is lost.”

After the second paragraph need you read further. I mean who wrote this, Joe Wilson?

Nevertheless, I will say it again, there must be a hell of lot of good progress being made in Iraq otherwise why all these calls from the left for retreat? Think about it. If they thought for a minute that the surge would fail they could simply wait until September and shout “We told you so”. Instead you see Harry Ried, RINOS, the the media nervously trying to pull the rug before hand, as if they sense, just perhaps, the surge is working.

Again, everybody knows that the surge IS the last effort to be effected before the calls for retreat would sound, so why the premature ejection urged by the war’s detractors?

As I’ve said on several posts, all this talk of retreat is a slap in the face to General Patreaus and the troops. It’s a travesty and yes, it’s undermining their morale. As any troop or leader on the ground and they will tell you to a soldier - “Finish what we started”.

One of the things that hurt those who came back from Vietnam wasn’t the spitting, or the name calling that liberals placed on them. It was the fact that not being able to finish the dance, it was as if our comrades died in vain. Every soldier involved in this conflict unites as one in saying, FINISH the JOB! It’s only those who never had the guts or character to complete the job that call for retreat now. Of these we have one name - “Cowards”. Shame on ever damn one of them.

Senator Larry Craig back in January said it best.

“Gen. Petraeus deserves the chance to show what he can do on a wider scale. If the doubters in Congress get their way and pass resolutions condemning our mission in Iraq, or pull funding from our troops on the ground, he won’t get that opportunity, and we will have committed a grave betrayal of our remarkable soldiers.

Our troops are now caught in a political tug-of-war. The Majority Leader, Senator Harry Reid, refuses to allow votes on all Iraq resolutions on the floor. Because he knows some will pass, Reid won’t allow votes on Republican resolutions that don’t condemn President Bush or pledge not to cut off funding for our troops. Senator Reid’s playing political games with the lives of our troops. I will not leave them stranded and demoralized like that.

The debate raging for the last few months over Iraq is a necessary one. It demonstrates to the Iraqis that our patience isn’t endless, and I think that knowledge will produce results before long. Will we stay long enough to see the mission through and secure the future? The world is watching to see whether the West will tire of defending itself from the relentless attacks of radical fundamentalists. We have the means to carry on, and we should.”

The surge is working as noted by several, but ignored by the MSM because they know that if the surge succeeds they will be forced to accept that Bush was correct and right to order it.

Seeing this it’s not a surprise to see the Times attempt to circumvent what just might be a positive report in September.
