UPDATE: Here is the feed of the service ongoing at VA Tech with President Bush’s comments:

Rounding up the threads of the morning. Capt Ed notes the heroism of Professor Liviu Librescu, a 76 year-old Holocaust survivor who sacrificed himself for his students. Meanwhile the identity of the shooter is known, a 23 year student from South Korea.

“A Virginia Tech senior from South Korea was behind the massacre of at least 30 people locked inside a campus building in the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history, the university said Tuesday.

Ballistics tests also show that one of the guns inside that building was used in another shooting two hours earlier, at a dorm, Virginia State Police said.

Police identified the shooter as Cho Seung-Hui, 23, a senior from South Korea who was in the English department at Virginia Tech and lived on campus.

“It’s certainly reasonable to assume that Cho was the shooter in both cases,” but authorities haven’t made the link for sure, said Col. Steve Flaherty, superintendent of the Virginia State Police.

A law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the information had not been announced, said Cho was carrying a backpack that contained receipts for a March purchase of a Glock 9 mm pistol.”

No doubt as more details are coming in there are those who will continue to politicize this by calls for control, and that is to be expected. But as I’ve said so many times gun control will not stop anyone who truly wants to commit the carnage this even wrought.

In law enforcement we say that anyone can commit any crime so long as there is motive and opportunity for the person to commit it. Guns or any other method used are not the issue. People do evil things because evil exist in us all. Until society realizes that “there are none righteous”, they will never understand the danger we face everyday from one another.

More updates as the day warrants.

UPDATE: More MSM abuse of victims as they continue their insistance on parading survivors and family members of victims a mere 24 hours after the effect. The first 24-72 hours are critical in CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management). NONE of these victims should getting interviews until after a debriefing, which is a process that takes place by trained CISM personnel.

Also more on the shooter coming out.

UPDATE: MK needs to take time off, this is way too petty and unnecessary.
